EXPECTED TURNAROUND TIME
(TAT is the interval starting when a specimen and order are received in the laboratory and ends with release of the test result.) In some cases, additional time should be allowed for additional confirmatory or additional reflex tests. Testing schedules may vary. In the event that reflex testing is performed TAT turnaround times can be extended.

It is preferable but not required to collect sample between 06:00 AM and 10:00 AM. Reference ranges are based on samples collected in the morning. NOTE: If ordering provider approves non-morning draw, this should be noted in comments.
Gold top tube (SST)
Plasma, severely lipemic, contaminated, hemolyzed specimens and other body fluids are unacceptable.
SPECIMEN PROCESSING INSTRUCTIONS
Allow specimen to clot 20-30 minutes, centrifuge, and IMMEDIATELY separate serum into transport tube. Contact with gel for > 2 hours should be avoided.
